Dev's Personal Guide To Brewing Coffee With A French Press
Using a French Press is my favorite method when it comes to brewing myself a great cup of coffee before a nice long and productive day of programming or even technical work. Not to mention using a French Press if very fast, and easy to use. :D
What will you need?
You will need to following items
- French Press
- Coffee Bean Grinder
- Food Scale
- 30 to 35 grams of Coffee Beans (more or less depending on your taste)
- 900ml of Water (filtered preferably)
- Something To Stir The Coffee With in the French Press
Brewing the Coffee
Step 1 - Get Your Water Ready
Get yourself a clean cup of water and measure out 900ml and start bringing it to a boil. The reason why you would want the cleanest water you can find is because the impurities within the water can really alter the taste of the coffee you are trying to brew.
Step 2 - Grinding The Bean
Using a food scale measure 30 to 45 grams (or your preference) of coffee beans. Now grind your beans until it has a medium coarse texture. I have found the that medium coarse texture really brings out a lot of flavor from the coffee during the brewing process and allows very little coffee grounds to pass through the filter when pressing the coffee.
Step 3 - Brew The Coffee
Make sure your water has been brought to a boil. First add the freshly grounded coffee into the French Press. Now slowly pour hot water into the Press. After adding the water set a 5 minute timer and wait. Do not press the coffee just yet! After the completion of the first timer use a tool to stir the coffee grounds in the press and set 8 minute timer and wait. Using the plunger slowly press down the coffee all the way and then pour the fresh brew into another container. Using another container well help keep the brewing process from going any further.
Enjoy!
This is how I make my coffee every morning and I had the idea to share it to all of you guys. I hope you guys will enjoy it as much as I do. :D
